Preamble: I recently saw an episode of the old TV show M*A*S*H which featured Rosie’s Bar and had a thought: Wouldn’t the world be a much better place if there was a chain of Rosie’s Bars instead of a chain of Bubba Gumps?

Naturally, I turned to AI to help me “live this dream” and asked it to create a fake Wikipediaentry for the imagined restaurant chain known as Rosie’s Bar.

Along the way, I learned that Rosie’s was, and is, a real place in Korea, and that its existence, along with the US money that service members brought, created a vibrant local economy. (Shopping locally works, always!)

I also learned that a bar Formula 1 drivers used to frequent in Monaco was called The Chatham, but everyone called it “Rosie’s Bar”.  According to Wiki, “It was one of the temples of Grand Prix racing.”

So bring on the chain of Rosie’s Bars!

The real Rosie’s Bar in Korea.

Here’s the fake Wikipedia entry for the imagined Rosie’s Bar restaurant chain:

Rosie’s Bar (franchise)

Rosie’s Bar is an international chain of themed restaurants and bars inspired by the iconic watering hole featured in the classic American television series M*A*S*H and the 1970 feature film of the same name. Established in 1983, the first Rosie’s Bar opened in Seoul, South Korea, and has since grown into a global franchise with locations across Asia, Europe, and North America.

History

The original Rosie’s Bar was a fictional establishment located near the 4077th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital during the Korean War, serving as a gathering place for doctors, nurses, and enlisted personnel. In 1983, a group of enterprising M*A*S*H fans and restaurateurs brought Rosie’s to life in Seoul, marketing it as “the Korean answer to Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.”—a reference to the popular American restaurant chain inspired by the film Forrest Gump.

Concept

Rosie’s Bars are known for their immersive 1950s military décor, signature cocktails, and fusion of Korean and American comfort food. Each location displays memorabilia from the TV series and movie, including autographed photos, prop surgical instruments, and authentic “swamp” tents for private dining.

Live Entertainment

Mirroring the lively atmosphere of the legendary Mai Kai in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Rosie’s Bars offer nightly live entertainment. The highlight is a weekly re-enactment of the classic M*A*S*H episode “A Night at Rosie’s,” complete with costumed actors, era-appropriate music, and interactive trivia contests.

Rosie’s entertainment lineup also features dramatic recreations of the infamous bar fights frequently depicted in both the movie and TV series. Professional acrobats and wrestlers perform these reenactments, choreographed to deliver a thrilling yet comedic spectacle without risking the audience. Guests are often invited to cheer for their favorite “combatants,” and some shows even include audience participation segments for willing volunteers.

Some locations have also hosted cameo appearances by former cast members and celebrity fans.

Expansion

By the early 2000s, Rosie’s Bar had expanded to over 40 locations worldwide, maintaining its reputation as a nostalgic destination for M*A*S*H enthusiasts and curious travelers alike. In 2019, the chain introduced the “Rosie’s Express” food truck concept, bringing signature dishes like Spam sliders and Grape Nehi floats to festivals and fan conventions.

    Here’s the original prompt, btw:

i want to create a fake Wikipedia article about Rosie’s Bar from the old TV show MAS*H and movie of the same name.

One idea is to say that Rosie’s is the Korean equivalent of Bubba Gump’s restaurants in the US.

Another is that Rosie’s Bars feature live entertainment, similar to the Mai Kai in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, with re-enactments of the classic MAS*H episode “A Night at Rosie’s”.
